GateCheck reads your ticket the way a steward would — and doesn't keep it. Plain words on what that means:
What we do with your ticket
We read it once — the image you drop, or a screenshot our own browser takes of the pass page behind a link — to work out the club, the match, the seat, the source and the barcode format. Then the image is discarded. Uploaded images are never written to disk; screenshots of link passes are deleted the moment they've been read.
What we keep
- The score and the reasons behind it
- The match, venue, date, section, row and seat
- Where the ticket came from (the marketplace or delivery tool)
- A scrambled fingerprint of the barcode and of the holder's name. These are one-way hashes: they let us notice if the same ticket is checked twice, and cannot be turned back into a barcode or a name
- A scrambled fingerprint of the seller's phone, email or username, if you gave one
- Your phone number or email, only if you asked for updates — used for at most three messages about this ticket, then never again
- Whether the ticket worked at the gate, if you told us
We do not keep your ticket image, the barcode itself, or the name printed on it. We do not keep your IP address; a scrambled fingerprint of it is used only to notice when the same ticket is checked from different devices.
Why we keep anything
Because the check gets better with every ticket: genuine tickets for a match converge on one structure, copies and fakes don't, and knowing which tickets worked lets us tell the next fan how tickets like theirs did.
What we never do
We don't sell or share your data. We don't show sellers' names or rates to anyone. We don't sell tickets and don't favour any marketplace. Brokers who check inventory through our API see only their own results.
Your control
Every result page has a "Delete this check" link. One click removes the row and anything attached to it. No account is needed to check a ticket, and none is created.
