Common questions about resold tickets
How do I know if my ticket is legit, real or fake?
You usually can't tell by looking — a fake often copies a real ticket exactly. What gives it away is the barcode format, whether the same code has been sold to anyone else, and how it was delivered. GateCheck checks those in under half a minute and flags what looks wrong.
Will my resold ticket scan at the turnstile?
A genuine, un-copied ticket should. The risk is a copy: if the same barcode was sold to more than one buyer, the first to scan gets in and the rest are turned away. GateCheck's duplicate check is built for exactly this.
Can a ticket be used twice or sold to two people?
Yes — a barcode copied to a second buyer scans once, and whoever reaches the gate first gets in. It's the most common resale failure, and it's the thing GateCheck looks hardest for.
Is it safe to buy a ticket from a resale site or a private seller?
Resale marketplaces usually cover you after a failure, but only after — you still find out at the gate. A private or social-media sale has no safety net at all. Either way, check the ticket before matchday so you know where you stand while there's still time to act.
Does GateCheck guarantee a ticket will work?
No service outside the club can — only the club's gate system knows if a ticket is live. GateCheck scores how likely it is from everything visible outside that system, and says plainly what it can't see.
